A Journey to Becoming a Woman of Faith

Day 2 – Love Came Down

One of the most amazing truths about God that is celebrated at Christmas is that he left heaven to come down to earth. The concept that God decided to make his presence among men is difficult for our minds to conceive. In fact, this is why so many of the Jews of Jesus’ day did not accept him as God because their minds could not comprehend this incredible truth, yet it was prophesied through the prophet Isaiah.

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign;

Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, And shall call his name Immanuel.

While the attributes of God are many, in the end, it is his great love for his creation that is the most impactful. Think about this for a minute, when a father gets on the floor and plays with his son or daughter, the child experiences the father’s love and relationship in a tangible way. In the same way, the coming of Jesus was God getting on the “floor” with us so that we could experience his love in a personal way. But, God’s coming is much more than just him getting on our level. He came not only to be “with” us but to also deliver us from our brokenness. Immanuel, God with us, is truly a marvel and a picture of a loving God who went to great lengths to reconnect with us.
